Woman cleared of assaulting Governor’s son
Governor Sir Richard Gozney’s son has dropped charges against a 24-year-old woman accused of assaulting him after she issued an “expression of regret”.Joan Juliana D’Estelle Roe, of Sandys, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Alexander Gozney in Pembroke on December 29.It is understood Mr Gozney opted not to give evidence in the trial.Yesterday prosecutor Kristy-Ann Kiellor said the Crown offered no evidence in the case. No further details of the incident were read out in court. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told Ms D’Estelle Roe she was free to leave and no criminal conviction will be recorded against her.Sir Richard released a comment yesterday on his son’s behalf and said: “Alexander decided to drop charges after receiving a letter from Juliana D’Estelle Roe which included an expression of regret.”
