Alarm set off at airport
Passengers were evacuated from LF Wade International Airport, after a faulty heat detector set off a fire alarm.Travellers waiting on AirTran and a delayed JetBlue flight briefly had to leave the building.AirTran’s 5.05pm flight 1812 to Baltimore, delayed by about an hour, was the only service affected. Operations last night returned to normal.On Tuesday an aircraft that ran into engine trouble just before landing in Bermuda was ferried back to the US.Delta flight 656 from Atlanta, Georgia declared an emergency shortly before its 2.48pm arrival on Tuesday.The crew made a safe landing at LF Wade International Airport, after shutting down one of the Boeing 737’s engines.There were 149 people on board. Passengers disembarking in Bermuda reported seeing leakage from the aircraft’s left engine.Bermuda emergency services called off the emergency following a check of the aircraft, but the plane’s return flight was cancelled.The plane was ferried back to Atlanta on Wednesday.Useful web link: www.avherald.com.
