Former Govt architect faces new charge of fraud
A former Government architect and Works and Engineering employee were today charged with defrauding the Bermuda Government out of funds.Kyril Burrows, 47, and Calvin Waldron, 42, appeared in Magistrates' Court for the indictable matter, alleged to have happened between August 25 and September 19 of 2005.Prosecutor Kirsty-Ann Kiellor put to the men a charge of fraudulently tricking, deceiving or enticing servants of the Bermuda Government to pay or deliver money to Allan Foote of AD&T Excavating.The men were not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court.This charge will be added to multiple counts of cheating, deception and false accounting, along with one count of hiding illegally gained funds to avoid prosecution, already facing Mr Burrows, of Southampton.Mr Waldron, from Devonshire, represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, is also charged with three counts of obtaining by deception.Two others not before the court: Mr Burrow's wife, Delcina Bean-Burrows, 48, and Greatfield Carmichael, 61, another former W and E employee, are facing four and three charges respectively.The matter was adjourned until next month for mention. They are set to have a long form preliminary inquiry on July 13.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the men on $10,000 bail, with one surety.
