Sailor Aurora Canessa has arrived in Bermuda the first stop in her attempt to be the first Argentinian woman to cross the Atlantic solo.Setting out from Argentina last April, Ms Canessa sailed up the coast of South America and into the Caribbean before beginning her crossing attempt, setting sail from St Marten for Bermuda on May 2.Speaking to The Royal Gazette through a translator, she said that the experience so far has been challenging, but rewarding.“It's to keep me young,” the 66-year-old said.“Because to be young is to choose between adventure and comfort.“I have been sailing boats for 26 years, but I was a fisherwoman since I was four.”Asked if she had had the chance to do any fishing on her way to Bermuda, she said: “Not very much. The storms didn't really let me do much fishing.”She plans to stay on the Island for around a week before setting out for the Azores, then Portugal.
