Restaurants remain closed after fire

The Little Venice and L’Oriental restaurants in Hamilton remained closed yesterday while fire department officials continued to probe the cause of Tuesday’s kitchen blaze there.The fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, broke out at lunchtime. Diners had to be evacuated from the restaurants, which are housed in the same building on Bermudiana Road.The damage was confined to the basement of Little Venice, but both establishments remained shut yesterday.Teresa Chatfield, a director of the MEF group which owns them, said: “The fire department are still doing an investigation.”–She hopes the venues will reopen by Friday.Fire department spokeswoman Wenda Roberts said there was nothing further to report.
