Jury selected in Yankee Rawlins murder trial

A jury was selected today to hear the trial of a man accused of the premeditated murder of Court Street resident Raymond [Yankee] Rawlins.Mr Rawlins, 47, was gunned down in the entrance to the Spinning Wheel night club on Court Street in the early hours of August 9 2010.David Cox, 31, of Club Road, Smith's, denies killing Mr Rawlins. He also denies further charges of using a firearm to commit murder and handling a firearm.A jury of ten women and two men was picked to hear the case at Supreme Court One this morning. Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves told them they will be sworn in on Wednesday, when the trial is due to open.Mr Cox is represented by John Perry QC and Craig Attridge while the Crown is represented by Cindy Clarke and Takiyah Burgess.
