Charleston yachts on course to arrive tomorrow - Colbert still lies second
The first yachts taking part in the Charleston to Bermuda race are expected to reach Bermuda tomorrow - but US comedian Stephen Colbert looks like he'll be struggling to be victorious.According to the race website, due to steady southwest winds the competitors have been making remarkable progress throughout yesterday. As of the 8pm yesterday, Tucana, was some 288 miles from Bermuda with her closest rivals being Mr Colbert's Spirit of Juno and Yanosha. The race's official weather service – Weather Routing, Inc. – indicated that the southwest winds would remain strong throughout the night, but begin to weaken by midday today."That's not good news for the heavier boats in the fleet, including Spirit of Juno and Spirit of Minerva. Look for Yanosha and Tucana to extend their gains late today," said the race website. To follow their progress go to http://www.charlestonbermudarace.com/participate/tracking/
