A new resort - but not as we know it .....
It's going to be the Island's newest resort and spa, but it's unlikely to attract tourists - at least not the two-legged kind.Instead The Secret Garden Animal Resort and Spa promises professional grooming for dogs and cats.It will be set up in an unused St George’s building on Old Military Road after being given planning approval. The project will be operated by Zeth Landy, an American Kennel Club (AKC) all-breed professional groomer and dog show handler. In his application to the Development Applications Board, Mr Landy called the project a one-stop facility for non-medical animal care, saying: “The demand for the service is overwhelming.”The facility will include multiple “cat condos” and dog kennels along with grooming facilities, a 2,500 sq ft exercise yard and a nursery for young animals. The facility also intends to offer overnight stays, Mr Landy said. However, that service will only be offered to regular members who are familiar with the premises so the move doesn’t cause them stress. The plan was approved by the Development Applications Board on May 27.
