Three vehicles collide in St David’s

Two men were injured Sunday morning after three vehicles collided in St David’s.According to a police spokesman, first responders reported the collision near Southside Cinema at around 4.45am.“It appears that a SUV, a car and a taxi were travelling along Southside Road when the collision occurred,” the spokesman said.“The drivers of the SUV and the taxi, a 37-year-old Pembroke man and a 41-year-old Sandys parish man respectively, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.“The driver of the car, a 32-year-old St George’s man, was not injured.”The driver of the SUV was last night in a stable condition, while the taxi driver has been discharged from the hospital.All three vehicles were extensively damaged in the collision.Witnesses, or anyone else who may have information about the crash, are asked to call PC Romeo Allen on 295-0011.Police called to majorettes’ eventOfficers on Saturday night responded to a report of a disturbance at the Hamilton Parish Majorette and Gombey Extravaganza.However, a police spokesman said that when officers arrived on the scene they found no disturbance taking place, and no one was willing to issue a formal complaint.Ship diverts with injured crewmanA container ship is diverting to Bermuda today so a 26-year-old man can get emergency treatment for serious hand and wrist injuries.It is thought the victim suffered burns while cleaning the deck of the merchant vessel Washington Express as it made its way from Bremerhaven, Germany, to Charleston, South Carolina.The US-registered ship is expected to reach the Island by 2pm today, when the man will be taken ashore and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
