Grotto Bay food and beverage director dismissed
Food and beverage director Anthony Santucci has been fired from Grotto Bay Beach Resort.Hotel boss JP Martens has confirmed Mr Santucci was dismissed from his job on Friday, but he refused to go into any more details calling it a “private employment matter”.Mr Santucci would only say that his lawyer would be issuing a statement in due course.The Royal Gazette understands that an investigation into an alleged incident is ongoing.Mr Santucci is also taking a leave of absence from his role as the chairman of the Progressive Labour Party chairman.A blog entry was added to the PLP website on Saturday saying Mr Santucci was “taking a leave of absence, effective immediately to deal with personal issues.”Mr Santucci is a high-profile figure in the community as he is also chairman of CADA, the anti-drinking and driving organisation and a member of the Tourism Board.He has also previously served on Warwick Parish Council, the Public Service Vehicles Licensing Board and as secretary for Southampton Rangers Club.Mr Santucci, a former Bermuda Regiment Lieutenant, is known for his work in the hotel industry, having formerly worked at the Fairmont Southampton Resort.He is a graduate of the Bermuda College, Hotel School and the University of New Haven, Connecticut. He also attained a food and beverage management qualification from Cornell University, New York.Mr Santucci told us yesterday: “I really can’t comment. My lawyer will be making a press statement.”Deputy Chairman Kim Lightbourne will assume Mr. Santucci’s duties at the PLP.
