BIU and Govt reach pay agreement

Bermuda Industrial Union today ended its long-running pay dispute with Government by accepting a 1.65 percent increase.The deal works out at $17 a week extra for every member, marginally more than the BIU had asked for in its latest bid to Government, but without the overtime concessions they were hoping for.President Chris Furbert announced the news in a press conference today, following a meeting of the general membership.For the full story, see tomorrow’s Royal Gazette.
