Trott wins Bermuda's first Island Games medal
Sean Trott has won a bronze medal for Bermuda in the opening event of the Natwest Island Games on the Isle Of Wight, England.The 21-year old road runner set a new personal best for the half-marathon distance as he finished third in this morning's race in a time of one hour 12 minutes and 22 seconds.Trott, who was also third in last month's May 24 Half Marathon, finished behind winner Lee Merrien (Guernsey) and Kevin Loundes (Isle of Man). Merrien, who competed in the 2007 Bermuda International Race Weekend 10K as an elite guest athlete, won this morning's event in 1.08.36.Bermuda's other runner in the men's half-marathon, Stephen Allen, finished 11th in 1.16.11 - around 10 minutes faster than his May 24 result.In the women's race the Island's Deon Breary also ran a lifetime best as she claimed a top ten finish. The May 24 women's champion was ninth in 1.28.52. The women's race was won by Aland's Johanna Kahlroth in 1.22.09.
