Driver charged after cocaine and cash allegedly found in taxi
A taxi driver has been charged in court after $13,200 worth of cocaine, a scale and $52,470 cash were allegedly found in his cab.Hewvonnie Brown, 36, who works for Island Taxi, was stopped by police around 11am on March 21.The cash is said by prosecutors to have been found in a backpack he was carrying.Mr Brown appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning where he was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply, possessing drug equipment and possessing cash knowing it represented the proceeds of criminal conduct.The offences are alleged to have been committed in an increased penalty zone, within 300 metres of the Once Upon a Time nursery school in Pembroke.Mr Brown, of Mission House Close, St David’s, did not have to enter a plea as the case must be dealt with at Supreme Court.He was bailed to return to court on July 18.
