Island record company launches new website
Record company Bermuda Soul has launched a new website as a means of promoting its talented up-and-coming artists.The website www.bermudasoul.com will feature in-depth biographies, profiles and music videos of rising stars like 15-year-old Kaelyn Kastle, master serenader Corvin Melody and seasoned performer Gwen Blakeney.The three local artists, produced by Bermuda Soul Record Company Ltd (BSRCL), also have singles available for download on the website.BSRCL started its operation in early 2010 with the release of ‘The Bermuda Project Gombey Journey 400’. The CD includes local artists in a range of different genres R&B, reggae, pop, inspirational and ‘Bermuda soul’.The record company was founded by Glenn (Poochie) Blakeney, Orville (Wyz) Malcolm and Gwen Blakeney and has remained committed to developing new artists in pursuit of worldwide exposure.Mr Blakeney, who is Minister of Youth and Families, said the label hopes to eventually branch out and establish a global talent base.He said: “Although the label will continue to feature uniquely talented Bermudian artists, it is envisioned that selected unsigned aspiring international talent will also be scouted and offered an opportunity to join the BSRCL label’s roster.“Headquartered on the beautiful island of Bermuda, the company has just completed three album projects that are to be released during the summer of 2011, which will feature the seductively passionate vocals of 15-year-old Kaelyn Kastle, the season charm of Gwen Blakeney and the dynamic male voice of master serenader Corvin Melody.“All three artists have singles available for download from the Bermuda Soul website and iTunes.”Mr Blakeney said the label was “extremely pleased” to introduce the debut single by 17-year-old hip-hop rapper Young Jah and to have world-renowned guitarist Mike Scott featured on several of the artists’ tracks.Mr Scott, who used to work with chart-topping singers Prince and Justin Timberlake, has also worked with successful producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.“His latest work has also included recent concert dates in Africa with Jermaine Jackson and studio sessions with phenomenal award-winning producer Timberland,” said Mr Blakeney.He urged fans of the label to interact with artists and follow their careers on the new website, or social media sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.Useful website: www.bermudasoul.com.
