A lone sailor will continue to Bermuda under motor after his yacht?s mast broke in high winds to the east of the Island. The sailor, whose name and origin are still unknown, refused an offer from a passing merchant ship on Tuesday night to abandon the 28-foot vessel. At last report the Artur was some 55 miles east of the Island.Bermuda Harbour Radio has not received any communication from the sailor as yet, but said it was trying to establish contact through e-mail last night.?If they declare a mayday, they will be given the option to be taken off by merchant ships,? said a spokesman. ?If he?s got the means to pay for a commercial tow, that might also be an option.?
