Intriguing message in a bottle found this week by local girl

Delasia Williams found a message in a bottle, along with a one-dollar bill.

A trip to the beach this week led to an unusual discovery for ten-year-old Delasia Williams. While playing with her friends Essette Winters and Maykyla Robinson, Delasia came upon a large bottle nestled on the rocks off Spring Benny Road. “I saw a dollar bill inside and thought ‘that’s weird’,” said Delasia. When she opened the bottle there was another surprise: a handwritten letter addressed to the finder of the bottle. “It was from a family of four who threw it off a cruise ship between St Martin and Cuba,” said Delasia, proudly displaying the bottle’s contents. The message was dated December 24, 2010 and read, “It’s Christmas, and we hope this letter will bring you joy!”The letter said it was written by an Illinois family onboard the NCL Sun cruise ship in the Caribbean. They signed only their first names: Matt, Kris, Nicole and Amanda.Delasia is not sure whether she will be contacting the family, but said she would be sending her own message in a bottle the next time she goes on a cruise.
