A new project launched yesterday hopes to map Bermuda’s cultural and artistic landmarks across the Island. The Bermuda Cultural Map Trust has launched its “Are you on the map” campaign, offering creative and cultural industries free marketing and a cross-promotional opportunity.Using a Google Maps-based directory, the Bermuda Cultural Map highlights social and cultural events and organisations, ranging from historical landmarks to the performing arts.Trustee Dr Edward Harris said: “The main goal of the Bermuda Cultural Map is to enable the growth and development of a vibrant sector of the economy.“Because of the interactive nature of the map, the community can work together to nurture culture and creativity in Bermuda, as well as explore revenue-generating potential that the map represents.”Almost 600 entities are already included in the online map, and the trust said it hopes that number will increase as the site grows.“It’s an exciting repository for what makes our Island unique,” Dr Harris said. “There are simple instructions for those in the creative and cultural industries who want to register and take advantage of a robust, dynamic and free online presence.”Useful website: www.bermudaculturalmap.org.
