World Cup hopes extinguished as Bermuda held by Guyana
Bermuda 1 Guyana 1Bermuda's hopes of qualifying from their World Cup qualifying group were extinguished last night after drawing against Guyana at the National Sports Centre.Devarr Boyles' side had to win to stand any chance of claiming the all-important Group B top spot and looked on course for victory when John Barry Nusum powered home a header on 71 minutes .But with ten minutes remaining they were denied victory when Bermuda goalkeeper Freddy Hall was beaten at his near post by a Ricky Shakes header.Bermuda poured forward looking for a late winner and twice went close through Nahki Wells and Nusum with efforts that wide of Ronson Williams' goal. There will be little more than pride at stake when Bermuda host Barbados in their next qualifier at the NSC on November 11.
