Burch voted in by Warwick North Central

Former Cabinet Minister David Burch was tonight chosen as the Progressive Labour Party candidate for Warwick North Central.Lieutenant Colonel Burch won the constituency 27 primary against three other contenders at Purvis Primary School on St Mary's Road.Thirty-nine branch members attended the selection meeting, choosing the former senator over George Scott, Ianthia Simmons Wade and Senator Cromwell Shakir.All four candidates gave speeches and answered questions from the audience before voting began.The result was announced just before 9pm, with Lt Col Burch believed to have won by a significant majority. He told The Royal Gazette: "No comment" after his victory.The constituency is currently represented in Parliament by PLP backbencher El James, who will retire at the next general election.
