Jury selected in attempted murder case

A Supreme Court jury has been selected to hear the case against a man accused of attempted murder.Marico Bassett, 21, is alleged to have shot Randolph Lightbourne in Sandys last July 23.He is charged with attempted murder and using a firearm to commit attempted murder, and denies both charges.Following the selection of five men and seven women to hear the trial, Chief Justice Richard Ground adjourned in order for lawyers to engage in legal arguments.Prosecutor Susan Mulligan is due to deliver her opening speech tomorrow morning. Mr Bassett is represented by defence lawyer Marc Daniels.
