A man who allegedly hit a police Inspector with a car on Friday night has been charged in court.Insp Troy Glasgow is recovering in hospital after sustaining arm injuries in the incident in Warwick.Aswad Wilson, 27, was this morning charged at Magistrates’ Court with assaulting Insp Glasgow in an attempt to resist arrest and escaping lawful custody.In a press release, a Police spokesman said: “Around 9pm on Friday, October 14, police responded to a reported domestic incident at a St Mary’s Road, Warwick residence.“While at the scene, officers became aware that an outstanding warrant was in effect for one of the individuals involved, a 27-year-old Warwick man. When the officers informed the Warwick man of the outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest, he fled on foot.“The escapee was later seen in the vicinity getting into a silver car which accelerated away. A police officer was standing in the path of the vehicle and despite jumping out of the way, was struck and injured as the car left the area.”Inpector Glasgow, 46, was taken to hospital suffering from an arm injury and was said to be recovering on a general ward today.The police spokesman added: “As a result, a search warrant was conducted at a Spice Berry Lane, Warwick residence around 7.45am on Saturday, October 15. The suspect was located in the home and arrested.”Mr Wilson pleaded not guilty to the charges during a brief appearance at court.Prosecutor Cindy Clarke did not give any details about the case, and Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Mr Wilson into custody until December, when he is due to stand trial.Meanwhile, the Police spokesman said officers are continuing to search for the vehicle used in the escape attempt, which is believed to be a Subaru J10.Anyone with information should call the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
