Digicel's controversial new long distance service has been halted.Judge Ian Kawaley today ordered Digicel to stop offering the new long distance service until legal action over it is resolved. The judge did not rule that Digicel was in any way in breach of its licence.Government lawyers earlier this afternoon spoke out firmly against Digicel's new service, accusing the wireless services provider of jumping the gun on imminent telecoms reform. However Digicel's lawyer Victor Lyon QC said Government had approved the service and was kept informed of its plans and never once told Digicel it could not offer the service prior to the launch.
