Governor to leave early next year
Governor Sir Richard Gozney is set to leave office early next year.Sir Richard made reference to his departure in his Christmas message to the country which is published in today’s paper.“We have spent four fabulous years in Bermuda and we look forward to another few months here,” Sir Richards says.“I have been proud to represent Her Majesty The Queen and Britain in such a fine Island country. Nowhere I know, nowhere I can think of, outside of a few remote villages shows such warmth, friendliness and courtesy to its visitors, whether short stay or long stay.”Sir Richard, a career diplomat, was sworn in as Bermuda’s Governor on December 12, 2007, replacing Sir John Vereker who served five years here.Government House did not comment on Sir Richard’s exit when contacted last night.
