Twins seriously injured in crash
Twin brothers were seriously injured this morning in a crash in Pembroke.According to police, one twin is in intensive care, while the other was this afternoon undergoing surgery.A Police spokesman said: “Around 2.50am on Sunday, January 29, police and first responders attended a reported serious collision on Woodlands Road, in Pembroke, near the junction with Serpentine Road involving a car and two pedestrians.“Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however, both pedestrians were reportedly seriously injured as a result.“The victims, who are apparently twin brothers, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check one 35-year-old Pembroke man was in fair condition in the Intensive Care Unit while the other 35-year-old Pembroke man was undergoing surgery.“The car driver, a 50-year-old Paget woman, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the main police number 295-0011.”In a separate incident at about 12.45pm on Friday, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Dundonald Street, in Pembroke, near Bulls Head car park involving an auxiliary cycle and a pedestrian.The spokesman said: “It appears that the auxiliary cycle was travelling along Dundonald Street when a collision occurred with the pedestrian, who was crossing the road at the time.“Both the auxiliary cycle rider, a 16-year-old Paget male and the pedestrian, a 67-year-old Hamilton Parish woman, were injured; however, their injuries are not life threatening. Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
