Announcement on old court building ‘very soon’ Govt
An announcement about the future of the old Magistrates’ Court building is coming in the near future, according to Government.A spokesman for the Ministry of Government Estates and Information Services said that since the opening of the new Magistrates’ Court in the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building last year, the old court building on Parliament Street has been used on a temporary basis for “a number of Government functions”.The spokesman added: “There will be public announcement very soon regarding the long-term use of that building.”The future of the old Hamilton Police Station, also replaced by the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building, is still undecided, with Government considering several different options.The building, on Parliament Street, had been described as “inadequate,” and was repeatedly condemned during its period of operation.
