Parliamentary Question reveals Orange Hole housing development is $1m over budget

A low cost housing development built at Orange Hole, St. David’s cost more than $6 million almost $1 million over its budget, it was revealed in the Senate yesterday.The figures were revealed through Parliamentary Questions submitted by Opposition Senator Toni Daniels to the Junior Minister of Public Works.Answers were submitted in writing.Of the 20 units built, Bermuda Composite Construction built 17 of the units and was paid a total of $5.19 million.The other three were built by Bermuda Building Services which was paid a total of $895,827.Government also revealed that while they built the 20 units as originally planned, the original budget for the project was $5.18 million.
