Ryan on final countdown for X Factor audition
Ryan Bean has set his eye on the prize as he and his wife Edonna prepare to jet off to London on Wednesday night to compete for a spot on The X Factor.Mr Bean is scheduled to audition for the final cut on Friday, and two nights before his departure he remains more hopeful than ever. This after employers at his part time job opted to foot the bill for his airfare. The BTC employee who also works at SAS Protection Services asked his employers if they could help with sponsorship.Andre Esdaille of SAS agreed to put up close to $1,300 to cover his airfare, now its down to the final count down before showtime on April 13.Since he was featured in The Royal Gazette on April 3 Mr Bean said: “I have had so much support, well wishes and prayers being sent up on my behalf; its been awesome. I am beyond excited, I am ecstatic.“It's been a very humbling experience, I think it's a matter of being careful what you ask for because you just might get it and I did.”As for the competition that still lies ahead, Mr Bean said he is more than ready, either way he believes it's a win-win situation. “The best case scenario is that I will make it through, and whatever God has in store for me I'm just going to keep going.”On the flip side he said: “The worse case scenario is if I don't make it through to the next round, I've already gone through enough and I have already accomplished a lot.”When asked if Bermudian artists are hungry enough for international success he said: “It has a lot to do with the mindset of the average Bermudian that we're too small, that limits us to think we can only go so far.“I've been guilty of that, but I have learned to just speak it into existence. I think that came with maturity as a Christian, you grow to expect more because you know who you serve and so you tend to think outside of that typical Bermudian box.“You get over that mindset that says I'm going to just stay in Bermuda because that's where I live and I don't really get the exposure I need.“For those stuck in that mentality I say life is what you make it and if you want it bad enough you will get it.”Alternatively he said: “If you don't want it bad enough you will be satisfied to just stay where you are. I want this.”“This is what God has prepared me for, I have been groomed for this for life. From the time I stepped out on stage to open for Beres Hammond down at Clearwater Beach I knew the stage is where I belong.“The response was so good I felt like I was the main international artist, I even opened with an original song that I wrote. I'm looking for big things out of this audition because I know that I serve a big God.”Mr Bean is the first ever Bermudian to make it through auditions for The X Factor, a popular British television music competition similar to American Idol and The Voice. He is scheduled to sing early Friday morning in the next round for the final cut on competitors for the show's ninth season at Emirates Stadium in London. The top prize is a major recording contract and international recognition by appearing on the show.
