Second bus drivers’ vote postponed
The final vote count on whether unionised bus operators will ratify the new bus schedule will not be taken until next Wednesday.Bermuda Industrial Union Organiser for the Bus Operators and Allied Workers Division Louis Somner confirmed last night that the second meeting, due to be held at 7pm was postponed to April 18 at 10am.No reason was given for the postponement of the second meeting. The new roster has been in the making since 1998. The Royal Gazette reported yesterday that two meetings were scheduled to avoid the disruption of service. When asked if he believed the new roster would in fact be ratified by members of the division, Mr Somner said: “We cannot anticipate that, we just hope the members are understanding enough to know that we need to go forward and this hasn’t been done.”
