New Sergeant Major takes over reins from friend
The Bermuda Regiment is to have a new Regimental Sergeant Major.Warrant Officer Gavin Rayner was appointed to the new position by Governor Sir Richard Gozney.He will take over the post as the unit’s senior enlisted man following the retirement of his long-term friend Gavin Lee.Mr Rayner has served since he was enlisted in 1994.He joined as a full-time staff member In 1997.Regiment Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Gonsalves said: “Mr Rayner has a depth of knowledge and experience, and the Regiment will be the direct beneficiary of his skills.“He has all the qualities needed for his post, has good vision, always looks for best practice, and is just the person we need during this intense period of advancement of the Regiment.”The Bermuda Regiment is currently looking for volunteers in all departments.For information e-mail Major Warren Furbert, wsfurbert@gov.bm, or call 238-1045.
