What can $1 million do for the youth of Bermuda?
The New Beginnings $1 Million Campaign is aimed at raising the much-needed dollars to finance education grants for Bermuda’s ‘at risk’ youth and bringing back the Mirrors Community Programme for 19 to 24-year-old young men.If raised, it may also assist this November’s co-ed Community Programme for 15 to 18-year-olds.The campaign will finance education grants for young people who have completed personal development programmes such as Mirrors and Raleigh International, who have decided to complete high school through a GED programme.Funds will help students in financial need to pay for Bermuda College courses.Technical certifications also qualify and grants may be made available to help with higher learning overseas.Donations will also help campaign founder Kerry Judd build an endowment fund for the education grants of New Beginnings Education Trust — the non-profit group dedicated to educational aid for the graduates of personal development programmes for Bermuda’s youth, to ensure its long-term sustainability.Along with The Royal Gazette, the fundraising will be in close collaboration with Mirrors, plus the Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association, with overseas experts Uncommon Results continuing to deliver the curriculum for the Mirrors programme.
