‘Man in sheet’ incident was misguided, but not a crime
Police have confirmed that a prank involving a man bound in a sheet was “regrettable and misguided” rather than a crime.What a spokesman described as a “thorough investigation” was launched after the incident around 1.40am on Saturday, April 21.Officers on patrol found a 50-year-old man, bound by his hands and feet and wrapped in a sheet, left on a sidewalk in the North Shore Road / East Park Lane area of Pembroke.Three individuals were seen fleeing the scene. The man in the sheet was not hurt, and told police he could not remember how he ended up dumped in the street.ZBM television news reported shortly after the incident that they tracked down the men involved, who dismissed the incident as a prank to highlight alcohol awareness month.Police refused to comment on the report at the time.However, issuing an update yesterday, a spokesman said: “Detectives collected various items for forensic examination and subsequently identified all of the individuals involved. After relevant inquiries, it has been determined that the incident was regrettable and misguided; however there was no criminal intent. As a result, no further police action is required.”
