BLDC: Crown Landscaping never owed money
The Bermuda Land Development Corporation [BLDC] has confirmed that a landscaping company should never have been listed as a debtor to the Corporation.Crown Landscaping was listed among four companies who owed money in a 2010 review of the corporation that was published in this newspaper last week. However, company owner/manager Russell Richardson said the list should not have included Crown Landscaping.“I don’t owe these people any money and I never did. I rented storage space from them but at the end of every month they sent me a bill which I paid,” said Mr Richardson.According to the review of the company, Crown Landscaping together with four other debtors, owed a total of $391,486.50.Mr Richardson said: “I don’t know how I got lumped in with those four companies as I paid my accounts in a timely manner and did not owe BLDC anything.”He said the first he heard of the claim was when he read it in The Royal Gazette.A spokesman for BLDC said yesterday: “The BLDC can confirm that there is no record of Crown Landscaping ever being a debtor to the BLDC.”He did not supply an explanation as to how the erroneous information got into the report, which was compiled by BLDC chairman Ed Saunders.
