Minister Minors goes for marathon glory
Don't be surprised if Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs, Patrice Minors, looks a little tired tomorrow because she is running the May 24 half marathon.Minister Minors – number 381 – joked that she might not be doing too much standing after the race but is looking forward to the day.“It's my first time at this,” she said. “It has been an interesting journey over the past few weeks as we prepare for tomorrow."I'm looking forward to the day as I do every year, to sit and watch all of our culture come past us. It's going to be a great day and I've already prayed for good weather. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the time with friends and family.”Alongside the Minister at a press conference this afternoon, Premier Paula Cox encouraged the public to come out and enjoy the festivities.“We're hopeful the weather will hold out,” she said. “It's always a nice time to celebrate Bermuda and Bermudians and I know so much work has work has gone into the majorettes, the bands and the floats. It's always a very special time.“It's a time when we come together and enjoy celebrating Bermuda. I think that's important.”
