Food vendors and event planners have been reminded of licensing requirements and safety guidelines by the Department of Health in preparation for the summer months.The Department of Health issued a notice reminding vendors to meet safety requirements to ensure “optimal food safety”. The notice warns of the increased risk of food-borne illness when more people are eating at temporary food vendors at sporting and social events during the summer.Promoters who are planning an event involving food stalls are reminded that they must inform the Department of Health in advance. A minimum of one week’s notice is required so the Department of Health can provide any necessary training in food preparation safety.
