New Beginnings Golf Classic will be held Saturday

The New Beginnings Education Trust is planning a full day of golf to bring people involved in the Mirrors programme together. The inaugural New Beginnings Golf Classic will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Golf Club on June 30, starting at 8am.The event will include morning and afternoon golf rounds, a youth golf clinic, and night golf with glow-in-the-dark balls. After the morning youth clinic with Fairmont Southampton golf professionals, one young person will join each adult team for the afternoon round.Kerry Judd, a founding trustee of New Beginnings, explained the setup is designed to foster interaction between young people and tournament participants.“We wanted to take a look at what the trust is all about and how we could incorporate that,” Ms Judd said. “The young people will have a chance not only to learn golf, but both the young people and the participants will have a chance to interact in a meaningful and positive way.”The tournament is a fundraiser for the New Beginnings $1 Million Campaign. The campaign will fund education grants for at-risk youth and sponsor the return of the Mirrors Community Programme for males aged 18 to 24.“We anticipate that this is going to become one of our flagship fundraisers every year,” Ms Judd said. The hope is that the day’s activities will be fully subscribed with “upwards of 160 people” in attendance.“Come and sign up. Have fun while at the same time giving back and meeting some of the young people that you could potentially be supporting,” she said.Persons wanting to participate must register at www.ptix.bm or www.premiergolf.bm by Saturday.

How you can help

The New Beginnings $1 Million Campaign was launched to support the Mirrors programme, and to fund educational grants for graduates of Mirrors and other personal transformation programmes.

Part of the aim is to help Mirrors bring back its community programme for 19- to 24-year-old men.

The New Beginnings Education Trust invests in at-risk young people by helping to finance their further education.
