For the first time in history traffic lights have been installed at the junction of Front and Court street.
New traffic lights at the intersection of Court and Front Streets go into operation this morning.City engineer Patrick Cooper said tests would be conducted starting at 10am, after which the lights would be fully operational.“We urge the motoring public to use extreme caution in the area while we are conducting the tests and afterwards,” Mr Cooper said. “Due to the fact that there have never been traffic lights in this area, we urge motorists and pedestrians to be aware of the change.”Pedestrian crossings installed at other Hamilton intersections have also been added to the junction.
