Singer Maxi Priest releases song as part of Bermuda’s tribute to Lennon
International singing star Maxi Priest has released a new song and video as part of Bermuda’s tribute to John Lennon.Mr Priest has covered The Beatles’ ‘All My Loving’ and released it as a single, along with a video. The song has been given a favourable review by the UK’s Blues & Soul magazine and will be one of the tracks on an upcoming double CD featuring cover versions of Beatles and John Lennon songs performed by a variety of Bermuda artists and international artists with links to the Island.The CD is part of the ‘Summer of Love’ events to celebrate Mr Lennon’s two-month stay in Bermuda in 1980 when he wrote his last songs, which appeared on the album ‘Double Fantasy’. Mr Lennon titled the album after the name of a flower at the Botanical Gardens. It was released three weeks before the star was shot dead outside his home in New York.A new sculpture in memory of Mr Lennon, designed by Bermuda’s Graham Foster, was unveiled in the Gardens on June 21.A tribute concert will take place in the Gardens on September 21 featuring many of the artists from the soon to be released CD.
