A vessel bound for Turkey diverted to Bermuda last night, to offload a sick crew member.The 25-year-old Filipino, who was aboard the bulk carrier Amfialos, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment for an infection.The ship, heading from New Orleans, was 50 miles north of Bermuda when the seaman raised the alarm; it reached the Island at about 8.15pm and then continued on its way to Turkey.According to Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre, the man’s illness is not thought to be life-threatening.
