Man seriously hurt after bike collision
A head-on collision between two motorcycles on St John’s Road yesterday left one rider with serious head injuries.A police spokesman said that at around 8am officers responded to a reported collision, near the St John’s Road and Woodlands Road roundabout, involving a 39-year-old Pembroke man and a 30-year-old Warwick man.“It appears the two men were travelling in opposite directions on their motorcycles when they somehow collided,” the spokesman said.“As a result, both men were taken to hospital. One of the men received minor injuries, however the other is being treated for serious head injuries.”As of press time last night, he remained in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition.Some residents expressed concern at the sight of armed officers at the scene of the collision, but the Police Spokesman said: “The armed officers in this case were simply the first officers on the scene.“They then became a part of the officers who redirected traffic.”Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact PC Robert Butterfield on 295-0011.
