CoH renews sponsorship of late night taxi service

The City of Hamilton is renewing its sponsorship of a programme designed to curb drink-driving.The programme, which gets $5,000 in sponsorship from the city is a free, late-night taxi service on Friday nights, administered by the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.“To date, the service has taken home some 7,500 people,” said CADA chairman Anthony Santucci.“With their ongoing support, the City of Hamilton ensures that people who have been out drinking late on a Friday night have a free, safe and reliable alternative to drinking and driving,” Hamilton Mayor Graeme Outerbridge said, adding the city was happy to provide a third year of sponsorship for the “life-saving service”.“We know the service runs extremely efficiently. We thank CADA encouraging responsible alcohol behaviour, for their ongoing administration and organisation of the Let Us Drive service.“We also thank the taxi drivers who show up each Friday night to take home patrons, these patrons can comfortably leave their transportation at home knowing they have a safe way to return.”The service is available every Friday night between 3.15am and 3.45am from outside the LOM building on Reid Street.
