Government and the AIDALuna’s tenders to service ship tomorrow

The German cruise ship AIDALuna returns to the Island tomorrow, with the ship’s own tenders plus the Government tender Bermudian bringing passengers ashore.Local tour boat operators will be able to board directly from the ship. The visit follows anger from some boat operators after the Norwegian Dawn used its own lifeboats as tenders, excluding Bermudian workers. However, Transport Minister Walter Roban explained that the Island’s deal with AIDA included allowing the ships to use their own tenders when calling on the Island.“Thursday will be a very busy day with the Explorer or the Seas and Norwegian Star being berthed at Royal Naval Dockyard and the AIDALuna at anchor in the Great Sound,” Mr Roban said.“Many of the tour boats have already committed to do tours, either from the ships at Royal Naval Dockyard or from the AIDALuna. Our obligation with AIDA Cruises was made well in advance and formed the basis of their willingness to deploy the ship to Bermuda this year.”The German cruise market is said to the world’s fastest growing. AIDALuna is expected to arrive at 8am and sail on at 5pm.
