Wedding ring found on beach
A marine biologist and former Bio Station ecologist stumbled upon a wedding band at Fort St Catherine beach while visiting the Island.Kimberly Holzer, of Crozet, Virginia, was visiting one of her former seagrass research sites when she found the ring.“I thought I was looking at a solitary key ring at first. My eye sight is not brilliant and I was not wearing glasses. Then my mind began to wonder to possible scenarios about the ring's owner and how it was misplaced,” she said. Now Ms Holzer hopes the ring can be returned to its owner.“I am a bit of a romantic so ultimately thought it would be fulfilling to reunite the ring with its owner,” she said.“Monday I was on the beach at Fort St Catherine en route to explore the seagrass meadow in Gates Bay. My eyesight is pretty shocking, so I am surprised I even noticed the ring. It was mostly buried in the sand along the wrack line, mixed in with sundried Sargassum seaweed.”The biologist, who is back on the Island visiting friends, researched the wedding band. “It's made of nine carat gold as indicated by the numbers 375/- and it also has the markings 0.05 P3, which I think describes the size and quality of the diamond.”She has sinced turned in the ring to the St George’s police station for holding.
