Drop-off hazardous waste
The Bermuda public are being encouraged to drop off any special waste to Tynes Bay today and tomorrow as part of Special Waste Drop-Off Day.The Ministry of Public Works will hold the event at the facility on Palmetto Road, Devonshire, from 9am to 4pm. Residents may drop off compact fluorescent light bulbs, old pesticides, hobby chemicals, outdated medicines or anything with a hazardous or warning label on these days.“Bermuda has a comprehensive waste management programme that provides residents with the opportunity to safely dispose of many potentially harmful substances with environmental sensitivity and minimal risk to human health,” said a Ministry spokesperson.Businesses with large amounts of special waste or those requiring more information should contact Clarkston Trott at 278-0562 or 501-3025.To learn more about waste disposal in Bermuda visit www.wastemanagement.gov.bm, see the Bermuda Telephone Company (BTC) blue pages or e-mail recycle@gov.bm.
