Remembrance Day
The Bermuda Regiment will be ‘front and centre’ tomorrow as Bermuda honours it war veterans in the Remembrance Day Parade.The annual parade to commemorate the fallen in the two World Wars is scheduled to begin at 10.30am on Front Street in Hamilton, weather permitting.Governor George Fergusson and Premier Paula Cox will lead the dignitaries who will lay wreaths at the Cenotaph and at the War Memorial at the Cabinet Building.Wreaths will also be laid by Mayor of Hamilton, Graham Outerbridge; Opposition Leader Craig Cannonier, the War Veterans Association and several others.Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment, Lt Col Brian Gonsalves described the parade as “one of the most eminent and most solemn events” on the Regiment’s calendar.In the event of inclement weather a decision to move the programme will be made at 9am on Sunday morning. The “Wet Weather Programme” will be held at St John’s Church in Pembroke. Diginataries will then travel to Front Street to lay wreaths at the Cenotaph and the War Memorial after the service.
