Senior donates $40,000 to Sunshine League
The Sunshine League was surprised this weekend with a $40,000 cheque — the proceeds of a book written about the organisation’s 94-year history.The cheque was presented by Carol Hill, who wrote the book ‘Rays of Hope’, during an open-house on Saturday to celebrate the organisation’s anniversary.Sunshine League chair Aderonke Wilson said: “We were honoured that Ms Hill was able to join us. She made a very generous donation to support the programmes which we will implement as we move forward and nurture the seed that was planted some 94 years ago.“We thank Ms Hill profusely for her generosity and continued support of The Sunshine League.”Glenn Faries, the managing director of the Sunshine League, also expressed his gratitude, and said that the organisation has a new focus and direction, providing support for foster families and children in foster care.Dr Faries urged anyone interested in volunteering with the organisation to contact him at 292-4360.The organisation also celebrated their anniversary with the planting of a cedar tree in tribute to the charity’s founder, Agnes May Robinson.Useful website: www.sunshineleague.bm.
