Walk the walk and help charity
It’s time once again to “walk the walk”, as the Centre on Philanthropy and the Argus Group join forces for their annual five-kilometre charity walk.At the Argus Walks the Walk on February 24, participants can select which Bermuda-registered charity will receive their entry fee as a donation.Explained the Centre’s volunteer coordinator Jennifer Pitcher: “It is an opportunity for many of Bermuda’s smaller charities to have a fundraiser without having to allocate resources to organise and run an event. Argus has proven an invaluable partner for this event, so we are really pleased to have them on board again in 2013.“The walk is a great chance for non-profits to engage not only their regular stakeholders but also anyone interested in supporting their mission. In fact we run a special workshop for non-profit to help them maximise the potential of this event.”The walk begins and finishes on Wesley Street in Hamilton, where both organisations are headquartered.Walkers can register online at www.racedayworld.com, or in person at The Centre on Philanthropy. The deadline is 4pm, February 22, with free T-shirts going to the first 1,000 participants.Entry is $25, with $20 going to the selected charity and $5 to support the Centre’s www.VOLUNTEER.bm site, which matches charities with volunteers.Useful website: www.centreonphilanthropy.org.
