Bermuda’s fight against diabetes is now $30,000 richer, thanks to a contribution from Esso Bermuda.The company set aside five cents off every gallon of gas pumped at its stations from November 16 through January 11, with all proceeds going to the Bermuda Diabetes Association.Esso Bermuda country manager Mark Fields said the company’s ‘Help Us Help’ promotion represented “a concerted effort between the local Esso dealers, customers and Esso Bermuda to support the Bermuda Diabetes Association”.BDA chairman David Hills added: “Diabetes is one of the biggest challenges on the Island, and raising awareness of this disease, including its symptoms and how to prevent it, is at the top of our Association’s agenda.”Useful website: www.bermudadiabetes.org.
