A crane working in the Paynters Road area fell into a ditch and toppled over yesterday.A police spokesman said: “A crane from D&J Construction was carrying out some work in the area, and it fell into a ditch which has made it necessary for another crane needed to pull it out.“The crane from Island Construction had to be set up in the road, so no traffic was able to pass that location.”The South Shore Road/Paynters Road area near the site was temporarily closed to allow the crane to be righted.
