Roundabouts at Crow Lane and Trimingham Hill are to be fumigated by the Department of Parks to destroy a fungus that has afflicted the plants.Parks officers have already begun clearing the plants in a bid to remove the fungus, known as sclerotinia, which rots vegetation.The roundabouts will have no flowers for a month or so, a spokeswoman said.Once the plants are removed, the beds will be covered with a tarpaulin for about two weeks to allow fumigation. The soil will be left to “breathe” for a further 14 days before fresh flowers can be planted.
