Police clamp down on unlicensed Crown and Anchor
Crown and Anchor operators were put on notice yesterday that operating without a licence will not be tolerated.Police confirmed inquires by this newspaper after two tables were shut down at the Eastern County match at Lords in St David’s on Saturday.A spokesman said: “A few minutes before 11am police attended the grounds of St David’s Cricket Club after receiving reports of persons operating a Crown and Anchor table without a licence.“After checks by officers it was ascertained that two Crown and Anchor tables were in fact operating without the completed paperwork that was necessary to be in compliance with the law and officers immediately shut down the tables.“Inquires into this matter are ongoing.”Efforts to reach an executive for the club were unsuccessful by press time.
